    Authentic American Values Remain Intact

Sequatchie County is comprised of several small communities whose pride helps to maintain the purity of the lifestyle.  Although these communities have melded into villages whose life vein stems from the economic prosperity of Dunlap, the largest town in Sequatchie County, and transportation allows for easy travel and communication into Dunlap, the surrounding communities of Daus, Mount Airy, Fredonia, Lone Oak, Cagle and Cartwright maintain their distinction.  This harmless contention that often arises within the county is a friendly competition manifested in Sunday softball leagues and community bar-b-que’s.

Community sustenance established by historic characters committed to family and neighborly values

Each community has a rich and unique history with pioneering characters that helped to shape the culture now so innate of Sequatchie County.  The county is completely dependent on the purity of family values and security in neighborly assistance from which the pioneers to the county established.  In Fredonia, for example, a school could be built for the children because a local resident, Frank Long, donated a portion of his land for such a purpose. Sequatchie County residents protect their values and lifestyle from being contaminated by holding onto community continuity.
